Once you have prepared your manuscript according to the instructions below, instructions on how to submit your manuscript online can be found on this page.Studies corresponding broadly to the fields of molecular pathogenesis, cellular microbiology, innate and adaptive immunobiology and studies of the systems biology (‘omics) of pathogens are welcome.Clinical studies (excluding clinical trials but including case reports), and modelling studies (from in situ to in silico) that leverage or are relevant to the aforementioned fields will also be considered.Authors must also upload a file as a supporting document in which original and revised text are compared using the ‘Track Changes’ facility.Figures should be uploaded in separate files and at sufficient resolution (see section on Preparation of data).Papers that provide confirmatory evidence or merely extend observations firmly established in one species or field site to another will not be accepted unless there are strong reasons for doing so.Members of the Editorial Board and other appropriate experts will referee the papers.The editor will summarize the key points of the reviewers’ comments and relay them to the authors.Manuscripts may be returned to authors for modification of the scientific content and/or for shortening and language corrections.All obsolete files of the previous version should be deleted from the revised submission.If a paper that is returned to the authors for amendment is not resubmitted in revised form within two weeks after a minor revision and one month after a major revision, the paper will be regarded as withdrawn, unless request for extension is made to the Editor dealing with the paper.
