[tags: Stem cell, Embryonic stem cell] - Introduction The term stem cell is a broad term that when spoken often comes along with positive language such as untapped potential, therapeutic treatment, and self-revival.However, this same term when spoken also comes along with alarming language such as ethically questionable, widely unproven, and even in-humane.One of the main characteristics of stem cells is their ability to self-renew or multiply while maintaining the potential to develop into other types of cells.

Coming from a Catholic school background, stem cells were always lumped at the end of the chapter with abortion, contraceptives, and other awful things that “went against God’s plan.” I didn’t know what they were or why we really used them, but already had a negative connotation about them.

So, taking a neutral stance, I wanted to see what the world was saying today about this important research field....

Before humans are created we start as cells, known as embryos.

Because this isn’t considered life yet, we are just clumps of cells....

There are different sources of stem cells but all types of stem cells have the same capacity to develop into multiple types of cells....

[tags: Stem cell, Embryonic stem cell] - The term stem cell research is thrown around a lot, but while researching for this paper, I realized I didn’t actually know much about it.Here is the question: “Should the laws that govern other types of pluripotent stem cells differ from those for h ES cells. ” As the National Institute of Health explains under Stem Cell Basics, there are three main types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells (h ESCs), adult or somatic stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells (i PSCs); it is well known that to this date h ESCs offer the most possibilities....[tags: Stem cell, Embryonic stem cell] - Stem Cell Research What if there was a more efficient way to cure non-communicable diseases other than surgery. Although, the benefits of this research are high there is controversy when it comes to this topic.By being able to discover and explore different things, we will be able to learn more. Not only does Stem cells help people directly, but they help others indirectly. Some of the serious medical conditions such as cancer and birth defects which are lead by abnormal cell division and differentiation will have new therapy dealing with stem cell research.Stem cells have the ability to replace damaged cells and treat disease of extensive burns, leukemia (a cancer of blood forming tissues) and other blood disorders....- An article published in the Genetics Sience Learning Center of the Department of Health Sciences of the Utah University, titled, The Stem Cell Debate: is it over.(2014), poses a question that I find very interesting, and that I would like to answer.“Embryonic stem cells are grown in the laboratory from cells found in the early embryo” ("Types Of Stem Cells And Their Current Uses")....[tags: Stem cell, Embryonic stem cell] - Stem cell research is a topic almost everybody in the world has a viewpoint on.
